Melanie Morehead Boone, 68, of Mint Hill, N.C. passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2018 in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 until 1:30 p.m. at Stanly Funeral & Cremation Care of Albemarle.
Born December 15, 1949 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Young Morehead and the late Jahala Crotts Morehead.
Melanie was a 1968 graduate of Albemarle High School and received an Associate’s degree in Interior Design from the Patricia Stevens School in Tampa, Florida. She also attended the College of Architecture at UNC-Charlotte and attended classes at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Melanie was a member of Bethlehem Presbyterian in Monroe.
She is survived by her husband, Rocky Boone of Mint Hill. Other survivors include daughter, Jennifer Burris Barbee (Judson) of Oakboro, a brother, Dale Morehead (Martha) of Albemarle, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Morehead of Albemarle, two grandchildren, Addie and J.T. Barbee, and several nieces and nephews.

Melanie is preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Chuckie” Morehead.
