Rachel Josephine Morgan Starnes, 87, of Concord went to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:47 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center Northeast.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday with a 30-minute state in Concord ARP Church 117 Union St. N., Concord, where she was a member. The Rev. Jac Coad and The Rev. Randy Foster will officiate and burial will be in Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

Born July 1, 1920, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late William Brantley and Corinna Efird Morgan and was a retired sales clerk for The Lynne Shop.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Starnes; three brothers, Arnold Morgan, Marion P. Morgan and Houston Morgan; and a sister, Blendena M. Ballard.

She is survived by three sons, Dale Starnes of Mt. Pleasant, Ric Starnes of Concord and Gary Starnes of Charlotte; two brothers, Heath Morgan of Albemarle and O. Binkley Morgan of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Madeleine Black of Decatur, Ga.; two grandchildren, Bryant Starnes and Josh Starnes; and four great-grandchildren Michael, Gabriel, Mallory and Caroline.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Concord ARP Church, 117 Union St., N., Concord, NC 28025, or Gideons International, P.O. Box 3043, Concord, NC 28026.
