A ribbon cutting held at the Stanly Regional Medical Center (SRMC) West Campus Friday marked the beginning of SRMC’s presence throughout the entire county.
This was apparent with the numerous elected officials from across the county who were in attendance of the event.
Albemarle Mayor Elbert “Whit” Whitley, Oakboro Mayor Joyce Little, Locust Mayor Harold Greene, along with Chairman of the Stanly County Board of Commission Tony Dennis, Commissioner Lindsey Dunevant, Locust Councilmen Joel Huneycutt and Larry Baucom and Red Cross Councilman Heath Hahn were among those who came out to celebrate the landmark occasion.
“This has been a dream of Stanly Regional Medical Center’s since about 2000 and I’m so proud of what’s been accomplished,” said Al Taylor, president and CEO of SRMC.
Taylor said he could not be any more proud of the state-of-the-art facility, and he is thankful for the hard work by Stokes Constructions and Yates Yates-Chreizberg-Hughes, who were the architects.
Among others who were in attendance of the event were the board of directors and ambassadors for the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce, host of the event.
The ribbon cutting took place at two separate locations around the facility, the first of which was in front of the new West Stanly Imaging wing.
The second ribbon cutting was held in the middle of the building, which is where Locust Medical Services is located.
Cabarrus Family Medicine, who will be occupying the other wing, will be moving into the facility in July.
