Tuesday, July 1, was National Postal Workers’ Day.
The residents of Taylor House honored postal workers by taking a homemade cake by the post office for their employees to enjoy.
“Sometimes we may forget the hard work these individuals put into our lives,” activity director for the Taylor House Lashica Jenkins, said.
“This is just a simple way we can thank them for all they do.”
Taylor House also gave cookies and a small gift to the mail carrier that delivers on their route.
“We try to remember him when we have special events. We often make homemade ice cream, and we always save him some,” she said.
Taylor House is an assisted living facility in west Albemarle with a home-like atmosphere.
It is the longest running adult care home in Stanly County, and although owned by the Baptist Retirement Homes of North Carolina, Inc., residents come from various religious backgrounds.
