Stanly County Republican Party is gearing up for the upcoming general election with the opening of its West Stanly office Wednesday.
Congressman Robin Hayes was on hand to cut the ribbon that marked the opening of the headquarters.
“I’m very encouraged by the work being completed here in Stanly County and that there is an office here for the western residents of the county,” Hayes.
Several other local and state candidates were also on hand for the event.
At the local level, candidates for county commissioner Jann Lowder and Tony Dennis were there.
“I want to thank Robin (Hayes) for being here, and I’m excited about being in Locust and western Stanly County,” Lowder said.
Candidates for Superior Court Judge included Tanya Wallace and Charles Collini and District Court judge candidate Amanda L. Wilson was in attendance.
At the state level, incoming state representative Justin Burr was on hand, as well as current Rep. Ken Furr, who is now the coordinator for the John McCain campaign in Stanly County.
Janice Abernathy, who is running for state senate, was also on hand.
“These people are active and very enthusiastic. They support their community, as well as their party,” Hayes said.
