Vintage Photography Guild hosting show at Agri-Civic Center

Monday, November 5, 2012 — Photography will be on display in the lobby of the Stanly County Agri Civic Center Nov. 1-30. Members of the Vintage Photography Guild of North Carolina will be displaying their most recent work in their annual show. They are an education oriented organization for photographers.

The Vintage Photography Guild of North Carolina (VPGNC) is open to anyone interested in pursuing fine black and white photography.  The group’s purpose is to bring together photographers with a deep interest in refining their black and white photographic skills in an atmosphere that is conductive to learning and sharing.

This is accomplished through the exchange of information within the organization by sharing personal expertise, allowing all members to exhibit and encouraging them to work on their portfolios and practice their technique.

This year’s exhibit reflects the varied backgrounds and diverse life-experiences of the members. The common thread of black and white runs through the different images presented by the photographs. “Capture of the Sundry” from the recent shoot at Miller’s Lumber in Mount Pleasant reveals the interpretation of each photographer. Some show emphasis on old but still functioning tools while others focused on more intricate details of weathered materials. Other pictures reflect scenes both local and distant. All in all, the images capture a brief portion of the individual photographer’s mind and imagination.

The featured artist for this exhibit is Elizabeth McAdams.
