Stanly County

Farmers Market

receives new signs

Have you noticed the newly installed Farmers Market sign at Market Station? The important partnership that Albemarle Downtown Development Corp. (ADDC) has with NC Cooperative Extension – Stanly County enabled your local Farmers Market to tap into regional funding through the Cabarrus Health Alliance.

Working with these organizations, local farmers and local markets are now better equipped to help promote their locations for sourcing local healthy foods.

New Farmers

Market Logo &

Shopping Bags

Both the new Farmers Market ground mounted sign and a new sidewalk sign proudly display the Stanly County Farmers Market logo.

This logo created by Erin Harwood, a local Stanly Community College student, is now used in marketing and promoting your Market in a variety of ways.

Large green reusable shopping bags with the logo are available at the Market for $2 each. These bags not only promote the Market but also the reduction of waste, as these can be used anywhere you shop.

Tri-County Farm

& Food Alliance

Supporters of local agriculture continue their work in forming a Tri-County Farm and Food Council (FFC); the Council will represent Anson, Montgomery, and Stanly Counties.

Interim (FFC) Board Chair Robin McCree and board members have sought formal recognition of the FFC, whose mission is to “encourage, support and coordinate the local farm and food system through agriculture, economic deve-lopment, education, accessibility and health.” As the interest in local foods continues to grow, the FFC will support agricultural initiatives.

The Stanly County Farmers Market provides the local community with the freshest locally grown meats, fruits, vegetables, herbs, ornamental plants and flowers available. Shopping the local Market offers you an opportunity to provide healthy, beneficial foods to your family. It also supports the local agricultural economy.

Shopping locally creates local jobs. Products available at the Stanly Co. Farmers Market are grown and/or produced within a 100 mile radius of Stanly Co. or they are a “Got To Be NC” certified product.

The Stanly County Farmers Market is in historic downtown Albemarle at Market Station, 100 Railroad St. (near the intersection of U.S. 52 and West Main Street).
