All the mothers and daughters who attended the special banquet in honor of Mother’s Day on May 10 had a super good time. There was ample food, fun and fellowship. Thanks to all who contributed in any way to make this event successful.
The flowers on the altar May 11 were given by the U.M.W. in memory and in honor of our mothers. The junior U.M.Y. ad charge of presenting special honors to the oldest and the youngest mothers. Nellie Tucker, along with Justin Biby and Jansen Burgess, presented mementos to Opal Mauldin, the oldest mother, and Kristen Cooper, the youngest mother. There were a number of visitors in the congregation and we invite them to come back at any time.
Rebecca Biby presented the children’s message, which included the story of the most famous mother ever — Mary, the mother of Jesus. The choir anthem was, “I’ll Be Somewhere Listenin’ for My Name.” This is an old, old gospel hymn and it added much to the worship service. We hope the choir will use that same songbook and choose other inspirational gospel songs in the future.
Pastor Nick Rochester titled his morning message, “Anointed of God.” He read scripture from Proverbs 1, 10, and 31.
