Canton Baptist
Sunday began with the call to worship song of “Holy Ground” sung by the choir. The congregational hymn of “Leaning On the Everlasting Arms” was sung, followed by special music of “I’m Standing On the Solid Rock” performed by the choir.
The message which was presented by Pastor Mark out of Luke 6:46-49 entitled “Standing on the Solid Rock.”
Remember our members in nursing homes and at home.

Charity Baptist
Charity Baptist welcomes Chris Lord back to the States. He has served a tour of duty in Iraq and has returned to his home base at Fort Riley, Kans. While stationed in Iraq, he was wounded in early January 2008 and was awarded the Purple Heart shortly before departure from Iraq.It’s good to know that military members who have been listed on the prayer list are making their way back to the United States safely wherever they may serve. Continue to keep them in your prayers.
Chris is the son of David and Valarie Lord of the Endy community and the grandson of Olin and Becky Lord. His wife, Amanda, and daughter, Emily, reside at Fort Riley, Kan. Chris and his family will be visiting Albemarle in Mid-August.
Pine Grove UMC
Sunday began with the hymn of praise of “Be Thou My Vision” followed by the Psalter Lesson of Psalm 139. The sermon was presented by The Rev. Lovelace. The hymn of commitment to close the service was “Softly and Tenderly.”

Grove Baptist
Sunday began with the congregational song of “I’d Rather Have Jesus“ sung by the congregation and choir. The choir sang “Worthy of Worship,” followed by “Who Am I.”
The morning message was presented by The Rev. Richard Carlisle out of Judges 7:7.
Upcoming events
Saturday - The older youth will go to Morrow Moun-tain. Permission slips will be given out this week. Trans-portation will be provided home.
Sunday - Homecoming. A covered dish luncheon will follow the worship service.
Aug. 16, 6 p.m. - Churchwide birthday luau. There will be a sign up sheet in the vestibule. Transporta-tion will be provided, if needed. The WMU will be providing snacks for the teachers at Endy School. There is a list provided in the vestibule of suggested items. Please bring donated items and place them in the box at the back. The last day to bring items is Aug. 24.
Sept. 12 - The Younger Youth will have a lock-in.

The altar flowers were given to the glory of God and in loving honor of their anniversary by Kim and Durayne Whitley.

St. Martin’s has two services each Sunday — casual dress and contemporary music for 8 a.m. service and a 10:30 a.m. liturgical service with traditional music. Communion is offered each week at the early service.
Vine Life Baptist
The welcome chorus on Sunday was “The Longer I Serve Him” and the praise and offering song was “The Servant Song.” The choir presented special music with the song “Going Home.”
Pastor Hunsucker presented the adult sermon out of Romans 12:7a entitled “The Gift of Serving.“

Sunday evening worship will now take place at the Forrest Oakes Nursing Home at 7:15 p.m.
The food items for July are canned toiletries.
Aug. 30 - Annual Building Fund yard sale with drawing for a 10-foot tower deer stand.
