A very successful Bible school was held last week. Outrigger Island was the theme.
The church was decorated with appropriate items for the theme such as palm trees, straw hats, coconuts, little monkeys, etc.
Meals were served every night. On Friday night the families of the students were invited for dinner after the study hour. There was lots of food prepared. Barbeque, slaw, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, hot dogs and hamburgers, and a variety of desserts were served. A big freezer of Jeff Keplinger’s homemade ice cream was also enjoyed.
Several water games were played outside. Thanks go to all the teachers who worked hard as well as all the committees.
On Sunday the commencement was held during the worship hour.
Flowers were placed in the sanctuary on Sunday in memory of the late Rev. George and Melinda Eudy by family members. The Rev. Eudy was pastor of Barbee’s Grove during the 1880s.
The Eudy reunion was started the first Sunday in August in 1906. It was held many years at the home of Solomon Eudy near the church. When the Eudy farm was sold they asked for permission to meet in the oak grove at the church. This is what they did for many years. When the fellowship hall was built they moved inside.
The great-grandchildren of the preacher looks after the reunion now and most of them have gone on. They had lost six of them last year. They lit six candles in their memory at the reunion on Sunday.
