— Cedar Grove
Cedar Grove U.M. Church’s children had their Bible school Saturday, Aug. 9. The youth conducted the worship hour for “Youth Sunday.”
Mike Night
The youth of Cedar Grove plan to meet at 9 a.m. Friday, at the church, to participate in a local mission activity before heading to Pastor Mike’s house in Mt. Pleasant for an afternoon of fishing and camping. Youth will return Saturday at 11 a.m. An invitation is extended to any adults wishing to join them. They need to borrow three or four tents. Green Memorial
The congregation of Green Memorial U.M.C. will have their homecoming services on Sunday. Revival services will be through Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.
Mt. Zion U.M.C.
Mt. Zion U.M.C. will celebrate their homecoming on Sunday. Everyone is invited to attend.
The U.M.W. club of Mt. Zion met Aug. 3 in the church. Jo-Ann McSwain, president, opened the meeting with a reading of the poem “Praise God.”
Etta Hathcock gave the devotion and the group gathered around the altar for prayer by Faye Blalock. Pam Lisbensy gave the program entitled “Through the Eyes of a Child.” She sang children’s songs to help get the message across. Everyone enjoyed the meeting.
Reunion
The descendants of Dexter and Nezzie Coley met at the old homeplace in Aquadale for an ice cream social at 3 p.m. Aug. 2. Approximately 65 family members were in attendance.
To continue the evening, 30 family members met at “Pat and Mick’s” fish house in New London for supper.
John and Karla Coley of Suffolk, Va. spent the weekend with Ricky and Cathy Harper.
Bereavement
Sympathy is extended to Brittany Ann Boone and Jared Dwayne Furr and families due to the death of baby Aiden Malachi Furr at birth on Aug. 3.
Sympathy is also extended to Betty Coley and other relatives in the death of Juanita Tucker Owens of Albemarle.
Personals
Chase and Jac Carson spent a few days with Ricky and Cathy Harper.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Helms and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hudson recently spent a few days in the mountains.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Smith enjoyed a few days on a tour of the northern states.
