On Sunday, the call to worship was “I Am Resolved.” The offertory hymn was “He Hideth My Soul” and the choir special was “Stepping on the Clouds.” Brenda Burris and Kathy High played the instruments.
Pastor Terry Burris sang a solo and brought the message. He read from I Samuel and spoke on “Failure to Pray.”
Upcoming events
Sunday - Homecoming. The speaker this year is The Rev. Yates Brooks. A covered dish meal in the fellowship hall will follow the morning services. All members and former members are invited to come.
The youth are collecting school supplies the month of August to benefit the Samaritan’s Purse.
Personals
Garry and Tonda Hamilton and family spent last week at Myrtle Beach.
Danny and Anna Sells and Callie vacationed all last week in Florida.
Emily Talley was at Raleigh at camp last week.
Lauren Talley came home on Saturday after spending two months in Santa Cruz, Calif., with the Campus Crusade for Christ from UNC Chapel Hill.
Michael Smith and some friends spent nine days vacationing at Ocean Isle Beach.
Lonnie and Sue Poole from Holden Beach visited Doug and Christeen Sasser on Monday.
Jeffrey and Leah Swink and Little Melanie spent a long weekend near Clemson, S.C. visiting Jeffrey’s grandmother, Linda Deal, and other relatives.
Prayer Concerns
Kathleen Cox is home after having surgery at Stanly Regional last week. Remember her along with Tonya Arrowood, Jeff Atkins family, Betty Braswell, Rick Brundin, Jim Bunn, Cecil Rinehart, Ray Burris, Cletus Curlee, Mary Dunigan, Rosa Farmer, Velgia Fink, Blanch Hatley, James Hinson, Patty Kiker, Scott Maynard, Loretta Oliver, Marvin Pinion, Doug Sasser, Paul Thompson, Sally Thompson, Richard Thomas, Melissa Williams, the family of Inez Harvell and our service men and women.
