Thursday, October 15, 2009 — On Oct. 10, an entourage of family members traveled to Davidson to give support to and watch Ryan Williams of the Morehead State Eagles from Kentucky play college football. Ryan is the son of Margie Williams-Dancy and the grandson of Marguerite “Helen” Pankey of Badin. The entourage included relatives from Dayton, Ohio: Margie, Jamika, Jazmine, Darryl, Regina and Demetri Dancy and Thomas Christian; Nashville, Tenn.: Rossi and Beth; Winston-Salem: Elbert Gene, Douglas and Brittany Chris-tian; Virginia: Jimmy and Felecia; Charlotte: Anthony Simpson and Aisa Powell; Albemarle: James Nabinett, Karen and Naomi Davis, Veronica and Jennelle Williams, Kianna Simpson and Rossi Pan-key: Badin: Sam Ray Gwen and Johnnie Mae Harris; and Terry Nelson and Evelyn Scott and Kyree Dykes of New London.

After the game everyone gathered at the home of Roger and Dietra Williams in Albemarle for a cookout. Along with most of the entourage were all of the local family members who could not attend the game. The cookout meal included hot fried fish, hot dogs with all the fixings, chicken and steak cooked on the grill, pasta salad and baked beans and various drinks and desserts.

Women of Real Destiny will host its annual Women's Conference Oct. 22-24 at St. Luke Church in Badin, with co-pastor Anita Owens-Scott of New Direction Ministries of Norwood; Oct 23, with Interim Pastor Yvonne Davis of Charlotte. These services will begin at 7 p.m.

A financial workshop will be conducted Saturday by Helen “Bootsy” Nelson of Atlanta, Ga. The Thursday and Friday services will begin at 7 p.m. and the Saturday service at 10 a.m.

There is no registration fee and all women and men are welcome. The theme for the conference is “Come to the Pool.”

Bishop Chenner Smith is pastor.

St. Luke Church is at 801 Roosevelt St. in Badin.
