DAV Chapter 12 :
Claims Assistance: Assistance with filing claims is provided free of charge every Saturday (except the month of December) from 8 a.m.-noon at 1450 N.C. Highway 24-27 Bypass in Albemarle. To file a claim bring the veteran’s DD-214. If it is not available, come anyway. The Chapter Service Officer (CSO) can assist you in obtaining an official copy as well as begin the claims process.
Meetings: Monthly meetings are held at 7 p.m. at the above address the last Tuesday of each month (except December). Membership applications can be obtained from any DAVNC12 member, from the CSO during claims assistance hours, or at the monthly meetings. Membership is open to all veterans who served honorably in any branch of the U.S. military who meet the following requirements: Discharged under any conditions other than dishonorable; has a disability rating from the Veteran’s Administration; or is being treated for a service connected illness or injury by a VA facility. Discounts are available.
Van Transportation: Free transportation to and from valid VA appointments is available to all veterans. Call (704) 322-0003 to ask for a ride. DAVNC12 is in need of volunteers to drive the van. Call the transportation number above or stop by during claims assistance hours to obtain an application.
Ritual Team: DAVNC12 is proud to provide military honors at the funerals of all Stanly County veterans. They need not have been a member of DAV. Contact the funeral director to request this service.
