Pfeiffer University’s Department of Nursing has received a state-of-the-art high acuity bed from LINET® Americas for teaching and learning the challenges of caring for patients in intensive care situations.
The bed, known as Multicare®, is part of Pfeiffer’s nursing simulation lab, a facility that due to growth in the nursing program, recently moved to newly renovated space in the Harris Science Building on Pfeiffer’s Misenheimer campus.
Among the features of the Multicare® are automatic weighing, which calculates a patient’s exact weight; comfortable control, which adjusts the backrest to 30 degrees, the position that best prevents breathing complications; and Automatic Lateral Therapy (ALT®) , which helps prevent pulmonary complications.
Pfeiffer nursing students and faculty have been fully trained to use the bed and its many functions by LINET® Americas’ director of corporate accounts, Chris Pike.
“The Multicare® is sure to become an instrumental part of the student learning experience, particularly for our upper level nursing students,” said Dr. Dianne Y. Daniels, chair and associate professor of nursing.
“We’re grateful for this generous gift, which adds to the growing capabilities of the simulation lab.”
The Multicare®, which is valued at $24,500, complements eight other LINET® Americas products in the nursing simulation lab, specifically its Eleganza 3 beds, which are designed to aid in the active recovery of patients.
