SCC recognized for Exceptional Institution Performance

Monday, August 13, 2012 — Stanly Community College (SCC) has been recognized as one of only 16 colleges in the North Carolina Com-munity College System (NCCCS) to receive an Exceptional Institutional Performance (EIP) rating for 2012.

The performance of the state’s 58 community colleges has been assessed annually for more than 20 years. The annual Critical Success Factors report is the NCCCS’s method of tracking the performance of the state’s community colleges, as mandated by the N.C. General Assembly. The 2012 report includes seven performance measures:

Passing rates on licensure and certification examinations;

Performance of college transfer students;

Passing rates of students in developmental courses;

Success rates of developmental students in subsequent college-level courses;

Satisfaction of program completers and non-completers;

Curriculum student re-tention; and

Client satisfaction with customized training.

The exceptional rating indicates that a college has met or exceeded all seven performance measures; a college received at least a 70 percent passing rate on all licensure exams for first-time test takers; and students transferring from that college into the UNC system perform at a level equal to or above native UNC system students.

SCC was also recognized in 2011 as one of only 12 colleges in the state to receive this same EIP rating.

SCC President Dr. Brenda Kays was excited to learn the college met the criteria to achieve the recognition of Exceptional Institutional Performance. “I believe that Stanly Community Col-lege’s designation as an EIP College is a clear reflection of the quality performance and hard work of our faculty and staff,” said Dr. Kays.

“I am very proud of the work that we do each and every day at both our Albemarle and Locust campuses. This recognition is indicative of the fact that SCC highly values student learning and student success.”
