SCC selected to become CompTIA Academic Partner

SNAP

Friday, September 21, 2012 — Stanly Community College (SCC) was selected to become a CompTIA Academic Partner. This academic partnership allows the college to provide anyone wanting to obtain their A+, Network+ or Security+ certification a voucher from the bookstore at reduced rates, some of which save the student 50 percent. Students can charge these vouchers to financial aid as they are considered a supply and available through the bookstore.

The above mentioned certification courses are offered on the SCC Albemarle campus. Students are encouraged to take the certification exam along with the course. SCC provides the certification testing services through our Pearson VUE testing center located in the Whitley Technology Building on the Albemarle campus.

Trent Helms, SCC program head of Networking and Technology said, “Being a CompTIA Academic Partner is extremely beneficial because it allows us to provide the opportunity for our students to obtain these highly-regarded, industry-standard certifications at highly reduced rates. This puts money back into our students’ pockets in two ways – they don’t have to spend as much to become certified and it provides them the possibility of obtaining a higher-paying position. It’s a win-win situation. Anything we can do to help our students during these hard economic times we will certainly try to do.”
