The Policy Committee of the Stanly County Board of Education met Thursday evening for the purposes of reviewing four current policies and a single new one.
The first policy discussed was Policy 1320/3560, Title 1 Parent Involvement. At the onset, it was determined that the policy should be renamed Policy 3560 and within the text of the new draft, it’s new description reads “Title 1 Parent and Family Engagement.”
This policy basically states what parent and family engagement qualifies as and outlines acceptable means of participation.
“With this policy we’re cleaning up the wording in a lot of places. We’re aligning the policy with what they’re doing now in Title 1 schools,” said Susan Brooks, federal programs director for SCS.
