Kellie Pickler’s rumba last Monday night on “Dancing With The Stars” turned into a family affair, as her husband, songwriter Kyle Jacobs, performed “Say I Do,” which Pickler said was a little biographical about her and her voyage.
She spoke of her father being an alcoholic and never knowing her mother.
“It wasn’t until I found Kyle that I found my sanctuary,” she told viewers.
“That song is my life.
“It’s our story. Jan. 1, 2011 was one of the most incredible days of my life.”
As Pickler danced with partner Derek Hough, Jacobs’ voice was heard performing the song which talked about not needing family there or a chapel or a minister telling them what to say. It was only until the end of the song that Jacobs could be seen on stage, with Pickler’s eyes fixed on joining him.
“Kellie, you make the most pictures with your body. Every single shape you hit is like a work of art,” Judge Carrie Ann Inaba said.
Judge Len Goodman responded, “You were immersed in the dance and you drew everyone into the performance. I thought your husband’s music was wonderful.”
Pickler and Hough received a score of 26, which puts them in a tie for second for the week, which had a theme of “The Best Year of My Life.”
“This was by far the best week on the show,” Pickler said.
