Tom Cloos, general manager for the Villages at Red Bridge, provided an update to the members of the West Stanly Business Association (WSBA) during their monthly meeting Wednesday.
Ive only been with Red Bridge for about a year, and I must say I have felt very welcomed within the town of Locust and Stanly County, Cloos said.
Cloos said the Villages at Red Bridge community has come a long way since he first became a part of the process.
He expects the first of the model homes, which will become the sales center, to be completed within the next two months.
When the sales center moves, the current building that houses the center will become the pro-shop until the 24,000 square-foot clubhouse is completed.
Cloos also said the 18-hole golf course, for which the grass seed will be planted in June, is slated to be open by November.
Reid Spencer, owner of Metrolina Golf Magazine, said if we keep the course in the condition it should be, our course could be already in the top-5 courses around Charlotte, Cloos said.
Within the past month, two of the three model homes in the Glenwood community were sold, as well as three more homes and lots were purchased.
In the continuing construction phases, more than 1,100 single family homes, townhomes and condos will be available for purchase.
These are included in 10 communities and residents will have access to amenities including four pools, four tennis courts, a fitness center and spa, retail shopping, a water playground, and the golf course.
At the heart of the communities is the namesake covered red bridge, which was recently completed.
To add to the Red Bridge community, which Cloos said will be a thriving community, is the new Wal-Mart Supercenter retail complex.
Mark Friedman, president of WSBA, has been involved in the Red Bridge process for more than three years and he said the progress on the construction may seem subtle to most, but he disagrees.
The transformation is amazing. To see how far we have come in the three short years since we started, it is awe inspiring, Friedman said.
