The 10th Annual Kerri D. Efird Memorial Scholarship Bike Run was held on Saturday, April 26, with a record turnout of 250 motorcycles participating and with over 450 hungry riders for lunch. The total raised for the day - $12,100, was also a record amount taken in for the ride.
We would like to thank Albemarle Police Depart-ment and Stanly County Sheriff’s Department for doing a great job getting us through Albemarle safely.
We would like to thank also Albemarle PD Officers John Morrell and Adam Torres, and Locust PD Chief Michael Haigler for the professional escort that they provided us with to Cox’s Harley Davidson, Asheboro, and returning back to West Stanly High School.
We can be very proud of our local law enforcement agencies.
It is indeed humbling to see such a turnout of support from the community to help keep our daughter Kerri’s memory alive.
There are man individuals that help us with this huge event — we wish we could list each name, but there is no way to name them all.
We would just like to say thank you to our Family, Friends, Church family at Philadelphia Baptist in Stanfield, WSHS Principal Bud Smith, WSHS Guidance Counselor Donna Fesper-man and all of our sponsors which are shown on the back of our -T-shirt.
But mostly we give thanks to Our Lord above, who continually day by day helps us to go on without Kerri and know that we are doing His will by helping others. May God bless all that had a part of this special event.
We will be awarding four $1,000 scholarships May 29 to four selected seniors a WSHS. This will bring a total of $38,000 awarded through the life of the scholarship to graduating West Stanly High School seniors.
Hope to see you April 25, 2009 for the 11th Annual KDE Memorial Scholarship Bike Run!
