It would be ludicrous if it was not so pathetic. At first I had to laugh as I began to read the article about Furr wanting a runoff from Tuesday’s election. In the beginning the article was laughable but as it continued it just became pathetic.
According to the SNAP results that came out on Thursday following the election, Furr came in third place in Stanly County (his own home town). Dr. Mehta came in second and Justin Burr won.
The article in Sunday’s paper refers to Furr as the incumbent which in a matter of speaking he is, but it failed to mention that Furr was never elected to that office, but was in fact appointed by a handful of politicians after David Almond stepped down. Kenny Furr ran before but was defeated.
I wonder what Justin Burr would have done if the results last Tuesday would have been reversed.
I can’t say for sure, but I bet Justin would have graciously congratulated the winner and offered his support and assistance in any way he might be of service. But, that’s the difference in being a good sport or a poor loser.
That, I think, says something about Ken Furr’s attitude and character. Just more continuation of his days in the local office in Stanly County.
It’s not about what the people want or what is best for the majority but all about self.
