What is a no-nothing?

Thursday, August 30, 2012 — In response to the “letter to the editor” comparing the United States to North Korea, I would only point out that the term intended as an insult should be spelled K-N-O-W-nothing, not N-O-nothing.

The latter term, which does not exist in the English language, was used in the letter three times, once to describe the leader of North Korea and twice to describe the current president of the United States.

It made me consider if President Obama knows how to spell know-nothing. If he does, then that would make him a better speller than the author of the letter.

I wonder what the term is for someone not as bright as a know-nothing?
