On Sept. 1, I spent the day helping my sister-in-law have a yard sale. Her name is Loretta Hubbard and for many years she lived on N.C. 731 in Norwood. On March 26, her son, Gary Brown, unexpectedly passed away. Gary also lived on 731 for all those years. Because of Gary’s passing, financial circumstances forced Loretta to make a life change so she is in the process of moving to another state to live with her daughters. We worked hard at the sale (on a recent) Saturday until the rain came. We left some items in the yard and assumed they would be ok until we came back Sunday. How wrong we were. Everything was gone Sunday morning.
What kind of people would do this? Several weeks ago someone broke into a storage shed in her yard. They stole her lawnmower, tools and other items. An air conditioner and other items were taken from her house the same night.
What kind of people steal from a 70-year-old woman going through such emotional and financial stress?
Hating these people will serve no useful purpose. I pray for them and hope they never feel the pain Loretta has been through these past months.
