Couple celebrates 50th anniversary

Tuesday, February 4, 2014 — Dillon and Brenda Mauldin of Albemarle celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows on Dec. 15 at Lakeview Baptist Church, Albemarle.

Maid of honor was Teresa Troutman and Lesley Mauldin served as best man. Randy Mauldin escorted his mother. Marie Eudy was the musician and Isaac and Andrea Russell performed a duet.

Following the ceremony, officiated by the Rev. Tab Whitley, a gala was given by their children, Randy and Danielle Mauldin, Teresa and Perry Troutman and Lesley and Natasha Mauldin.

The couple was married on Dec. 22, 1963, in Lakeview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Mauldin was the former Brenda Almond, daughter of the late Roy and Agnes Almond of Stanly County.

Mr. Mauldin was the son of the late Ollie and Sunie Mauldin, also of Stanly County.

The couple has three children, Teresa Denise Mauldin Troutman of Gold Hill, Randy Lee Mauldin of Kannapolis and Lesley Monroe Mauldin of Albemarle. They also have seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two stepgrandchildren.

Mrs. Mauldin was attired in a long off-white wedding gown with a lace-covered train and lace sleeves. Her bouquet consisted of long-stemmed red roses.

Mr. Mauldin wore a red rose boutonniere.

Decorations included round tables adorned with red and white tablecloths. White chairs complimented the tables and many red roses accented the room. A special friend, Cindy Stack, assisted with decorations.

The white five-tier cake was embellished with edible red roses on top and draped down on two sides.

The ceremony immediately followed the morning church service. Afterward, attendees were served lunch consisting of grilled chicken breast, creamed potatoes, green beans, rolls, cake and tea.

The cake was served by Danielle Mauldin, daughter-in-law of the couple, and everyone signed the register as they entered the reception.

The couple’s children, grandchildren and friends also assisted in serving the meal.

Approximately 125 guests from Albemarle, Kannapolis, Gold Hill, Salisbury, Stanley, Denver, Lumberton, Locust, Concord, New London and Florida attended the ceremony and reception.
