Stamper-Slack Wedding

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 — On Saturday, September 29, at 5 p.m. at Providence Church of God in Locust, Miss Ashley Renee Slack, formerly of Albemarle, and Mr. Roger Lee Stamper Jr., of Locust, were united in Holy Matrimony. Rev. Jerry Ingle officiated the ceremony.

Mrs. Ashley Stamper wore a champagne colored chevron, mermaid elegant style gown with lace trimming, accompanied with a shimmering champagne lace veil. She chose red and orange roses as her bouquet. Ashley was given in marriage by her father, David Culp.

Attending Mrs. Stamper as her matron of honor was Nicole Lankford, friend of the bride. Her bridesmaids were Chelsey Culp, sister of the bride; Debra Eudy, friend of both the bride and groom; and Amy Stamper, sister of the groom. Mrs. Ashley’s flower girls were Miss McKayla Blalock and Miss Kalena Favvesi, nieces of the groom.

Accompanying Mr. Roger Stamper as his best men were Rick Eudy, fire chief, and Hunter Lankford, a captain, with Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Department. His groomsmen were Scott O’Loughlin and Matt Vaughn, also with the Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Stamper’s ushers were Nathan Eudy, fireman and friend, David Austin and Rodney Tarleton, friends and working buddies of the groom, and Michael Culp, brother of the bride. Mr. Christian Stamper, son of the groom, acted as ring bearer. All of Mr. Roger Stamper’s accompanying men wore their dress fire uniforms. Mr. Christian Stamper wore a miniature fire uniform.

The rehearsal dinner of hamburgers and hotdogs was given by David and Brenda Culp and Tim and Ellen Gaskins, parents of the couple, at the Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Department.

The reception was in the gym of Providence Church of God following the ceremony. The meal of barbecue chicken wings, baked beans, red slaw, white slaw, rolls, chicken salad, spinach salad, bread and punch was given by the parents of the couple.

Music for the special occasion was provided by DJ, Bob Krokeil, a friend of the bride’s family.

Mr. Hunter Lankford graced the couple with a wonderful speech, congratulating them on their nuptials.

Mr. Roger and Mrs. Ashley Stamper left the reception in the engine of station 36, driven by Mr. Scott O’Loughlin.

A party was hosted by the new couple for the wedding party at their home in the Ridgecrest community of Locust.

Mrs. Ashley Stamper is the daughter of David and Brenda Culp of Aquadale. Her grandparents are Louise Deese and Raymond and Shirley Culp, all of Aquadale. Mrs. Stamper is a 2007 graduate from West Stanly High School and a 2012 graduate of Stanly Community College in Albemarle with a Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate. Ashley is currently a homemaker.

Mr. Roger Stamper is the son of Tim and Ellen Gaskins and the late Roger Lee Stamper Sr. of Locust. His grandparents are Coy and Martha Thompson and Essie Stamper, all of Albemarle, and the late Troy Stamper. Mr. Stamper is a 2003 graduate of North Stanly High School. He also attended Stanly Community College where he studied welding and auto body repair. Mr. Roger Stamper is a lineman with Union Power Cooperative in Oakboro. Roger is also a captain and volunteer fireman with the Ridgecrest Volunteer Fire Department.

Mr. and Mrs. Roger Stamper would like to give a special “Thank you” to Velva Smith, their families and friends for helping make this a memorable event.

After a honeymoon at Ocean Lakes Camp Ground in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Roger Lee Stamper Jr. are residing in the Ridgecrest community of Locust, N.C.
