Stanly Community College, other local colleges and businesses will soon receive regional awards.

  • Stanly County Prays raises more than $5K for local charities
    The annual Stanly County Prays community-wide prayer service, sponsored by local churches and the Stanly County Family YMCA, raised more than $5,650 for four charitable causes in Stanly County

  • Purcell to seek re-election
    Sen. Bill Purcell announced that he will seek re-election to represent the 25th N.C. Senatorial District, which includes Anson, Richmond, Scot-land and Stanly counties.
    Purcell, a native of Laurinburg, practiced pediatrics for 36 years, served on the Laurinburg City Council for six years and as mayor of Laurinburg for 10 years before being appointed to the N.C. Senate in 1997. He has been re-elected six times.

  • Burr accepts page applications
    Rep. Justin Burr of Stanly County announced Monday that he will be accepting page applications for the 2010 short session, which begins May 12.

  • Gray Stone to build facility
    Now in its eighth year of excellence in education, Gray Stone Day School (GSDS) will officially break ground on a new 50,000-square-foot school building very soon. Closing on the $7.2 million project was held late last Friday afternoon, according to GSDS Director Helen Nance.

  • Grants give funding for Allied Health, Adult Literacy students
    Stanly Community College (SCC) recently received funding that will help support students in the Allied Health Care and Adult Literacy programs.
