Following the low turnout at Albemarle’s Downtown Christmas, Albemarle Downtown Business Association and the Albemarle Downtown Development Corporation have put together an online survey about how the event should be handled in the future.
The six question survey can be found on the ADDC’s website and will be open for public input until Jan. 10.
ADDC Executive Director Shannon Johnson said that following the 2013 Albemarle Downtown Christmas, there were several people in the community who offered comments. ADDC decided a survey would be a fair way to handle the input.
“There were those who had positive comments about the event, those who had negative comments,” Johnson said.
“There were a lot of different opinions about how [this] year’s event should be handled, so we wanted to pull all that together and reach a consensus.”
Johnson said most of the comments resolved around the timing of the event.
“Not just what time of day, as in daytime or evening, but whether it should be held before or after Thanksgiving,” Johnson said.
Two of the six survey questions revolve around the topic.
The other questions revolve around the most common topics members of the public and local businesses brought to ADDC’s attention.
“The success of any event downtown depends on public interest,” Johnson said.
“If we can find that out, we can plan something that works well for everyone.”
Johnson asks that the public take the time to take the short survey.
“The last question is a comment section and that was intentional,” she said.
“We really want to hear what people have to say on this.”
For those who wish to take the survey, the link can be found at www.albemarle downtown.com. It is at the top of the page just under the menu tabs to the right of the Facebook/Twitter icon.
