The newest class of Leadership Stanly were delivered their syllabus Wednesday night and welcomed as the 26th group to participate in the annual program.
Sponsored by the Stanly County Chamber of Commerce, more than 500 people have been through the program that encourages people to become more active in the community.
Leadership Stanly is designed to build relationships and develop leaders and future leaders in the county.
This year’s class includes: Courtney Adams, Trinity Place; Diane Bowden, Monarch; George Crooker, Stanly County Family YMCA; Sandra Gann, Beane, Swaringen & Company; Stephanie Gresham, Stanly County Chamber of Commerce; Jill Hatley, Stanly County Habitat for Humanity; Kristy Huneycutt, Preformed Line Products Co.; Jesse Huneycutt, Albemarle Police Department; Brad Jenkins, Albemarle Fire Department; James Laurens, Pfeiffer University; Jennifer Layton, Stanly County Health Department; Tiffany Lentz, Vac & Dash; Lindsey Lowe, First Bank; Nikki O’Neal, Stanly County Senior Services; Robert Parrish, Seven Oaks Doors & Hardware; Marcus Pryor, Stanly Community College; Jon Russell, ServPro; Reggie Sasser, Michelin; Neil Senter, Bank of Stanly; Jonathon Slagle, Stanly Medical Services; Tonya Smith, Hospice of Stanly County; Lois Smith, Stanly Community College; Linda Solomon, Stanly County Partnership for Children; Jennifer Sykes, GHA Autism Supports; Art Whitaker, Stanly County Schools.
Members will begin their nine-month training immediately with an overnight retreat at Haw River State Park on Monday.
The class will then participate in monthly semimars on the various aspects of Stanly County life.
Subjects to be covered include a history and community overview, education, health care and human services, law enforement and the courts, local government and land use/public works, communications and media, economic develoment and agri-business, and transportation and tourism.
