Albemarle man charged with intent to kill stepfather

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 — An Albemarle man has been charged with intent to kill and held responsible for severe injuries to his stepfather.

James Dean Craver’s stepson, Douglas Baughan, was interviewed and admitted to authorities that he and his stepdad had become involved in a dispute and he began assaulting his stepdad in the head several times.

As a result of the injuries sustained, Craver was transported to Stanly Regional Medical Center and later transported to Carolinas Medical Center where he received a six hour, reconstructive surgery on his facial area.

Detectives with the Albemarle Police Depart-ment conducted several interviews and have charged Baughan of 1116 Montgomery Ave, Albe-marle, with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and inflicting serious injury.

Baughan was arrested on Oct. 20, taken to the Stanly County Jail, and placed under a $15,000.00 secured bond. Mr. Baughan’s next court appearance will be Oct. 29 in District Court.
