Wednesday, February 27, 2013 — A car came to rest on its roof after the driver accidentally hit the acceleration pedal instead of the brake Monday afternoon.

Albemarle Police Department’s Capt. Swink said that the single car accident occurred about 1:30 p.m.

The driver, Brenda Lambert Lee, 65, was driving a 1993 Honda. Lee was waiting on her daughter outside of a house when she accidentally hit the wrong pedal off Leslie Street.

“She was going to back down the street. So she went to put it back in park, and hit the gas instead of the brake and went through the driveway of the house. And that’s when she struck the out building. However she hit it, she flipped it over,” Swink said.

While the vehicle was badly damaged, Swink said that the building sustained just a small amount of damage, estimated to be about $100 in repairs.

“Just one of them weird things that happens,” Swink said.

According to the report, Lee showed no signs of physical injury, but may have been experiencing some back pain.
