Norwood Town Council approves water tank contract

Tuesday, July 16, 2013 — The town of Norwood met at the Wadesboro Airport last Tuesday evening for a special meeting.

The meeting began with a closed session to discuss a contract issue regarding the refurbishment of a water tank on Campbell Street.

After returning from closed session, town council voted to award the contract to Southern Corrosion, Inc. The bid to paint and sanitize the water tank was $88,600. The projected completion date of the project is 90 days after the signing of the contract.

Also during the meeting, town council discussed an update on the E-1 pump policy and the removal of limbs and other storm debris around town. Members of the town council have been listening to concerns from Norwood residents regarding the cleanup following last month’s major storm. Although not as badly hit as Albemarle, the town does have some storm damage.

According to Town Administrator Dwight Smith, Norwood is doing the best it can to speed up the cleanup efforts with its resources.

The next regular meeting of the Norwood Town Council will be 7 p.m. Aug. 5 at  Norwood Town Hall.
