Red Cross launches ‘Heroes’ Campaign

Friday, March 22, 2013 — The American Red Cross, Stanly County Chapter, will conduct its 10th “Heroes” Campaign with individuals who sign up to be Heroes for the American Red Cross by raising $1,000 for the local chapter.

All “Heroes” will be featured in a full-page newspaper ad and on the radio at the completion of the campaign.

One hundred percent of all proceeds will help provide Red Cross services to the citizens of Stanly County.

Last year the Stanly County Red Cross provided Red Cross services to over 6,200 people in Stanly County. These services include disaster relief to disaster victims, emergency communications between armed forces and families at home, teaching lifesaving skills in CPR, first aid, water safety and health courses and collecting blood for patients in area hospitals.

The goal for this year’s “Heroes” Campaign is $25,000. It is critical that our chapter meets or exceeds its goal this year due to the number of single-family fires the chapter has responded to since July 1, 2012. All disaster assistance is free, to our single-family fire victims.

For over 100 years local chapters of the American Red Cross have provided “Heroes” for our communities. Now, with the changing economic demographics, the Stanly County Red Cross needs individuals in our communities to become “Heroes for the American Red Cross” to guarantee that our chapter will have the financial capabilities to meet our commitments to Stanly County citizens.

For more information on becoming a “Hero for the American Red Cross,” call (704) 982-0070 weekdays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
