The Greater Charlotte Automobile Dealers Association presents the Charlotte International Auto Show Nov. 15-18 at the Charlotte Convention Center, 501 S. College St., Charlotte.
This year, the Greater Charlotte Automobile Dealers Association has partnered with local area YMCAs in an effort to help raise money for many of the initatives and programs featured at the Y.
Through Lum’s Ford, Inc., a member of the Greater Charlotte Automobile Dealers Association, the Stanly County Family YMCA is included in this and will benefit from this effort.
“The Greater Charlotte Automobile Dealers Association has chosen local area Ys to benefit from this year’s show. The Y will benefit from this in two ways: first, we’ll get a general donation; second, we get a portion of the ticket sales. In years past, we’ve received funds as large as $10,000,” said Stanly County Family YMCA Executive Director John Lowder.
“People can go online and order their tickets in advance for the Auto Show. If they enter the STANLYCO promo code, we’ll receive money from the ticket sales.
“I hope the community will be supportive of the show and come out to enjoy the excitement. I’m hoping the community will recognize Lum’s Ford for their support and interest in the community, that they’ll realize the value of Lum’ Ford and the Greater Charlotte Automomile Dealers Association to our community. We’re hoping the people will go out and see these futuristic cars and support the people that are helping us.
“Gary Edwards of Lum’s Ford has a good heart for the community. What Gary is doing here supports the other initatives at the Y like LIVESTRONG, our after school programs, our work with the handicapped, our support for people who can't pay the full Y rate and the list goes on and on. What Gary is doing is a huge boost to our outreach here.”
The Charlotte International Auto Show will run noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (family day). Tickets for the show are $10 for adults and children 12 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. Discount tickets of $2 off are available at the YMCA and new area car dealerships.
The Auto Show will have more than 400 cars, new cars, lights trucks, crossovers, sport utility vehicles, electrics and hybrids from 32 manufacturers. Some of the events at this year’s Auto Show are the Ride and Drive, history of the automobile and the Family Entertainment Zone, with activities for kids of all ages.
“The Y only gets money from the ticket sales if you go online and order them in advance, entering in the STANLYCO promo code; that’s the kickback. If you don’t enter the code, we don’t get recognized for that ticket sale,” said Kassie Taylor, financial development director at the Stanly County Family YMCA.
