  • Race Recap: Harvick Wins Back-To-Back Budweiser Shootout In Exciting Finish
DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. - The Budweiser Shootout has the proper name.... a Shootout.... anybody's race.... A no-holds-barred, fistfight with stock cars..... NASCAR stock cars.
Whoowee.... What a race! And what a finish.
After a caution fell with just six laps remaining, the second of the race for Michael Waltrip, who was turned sideways by Ryan Newman, the stage was set for a spectacular finish and America's best professional race drivers didn't disappoint a huge crowd.

  • NASCAR 2010: It’s All About You
It’s kind of funny how a single word can become a rallying cry for an entire nation. Some notable examples from the past include things like “freedom,” “equality,” and tragically in the past couple of weeks, “Haiti.”
While it can hardly be called new, NASCAR Nation can happily claim a rejuvenated buzzword of its own in 2010. From Victory Lane at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November 2009 through every speech at Champion’s Week in Las Vegas and every announcement made at the annual media tour in Charlotte earlier this week, one small word has been made into a very big deal.

  • NASCAR To Represent Michael Waltrip Racing Licensing Business
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Jan. 13, 2010) – NASCAR and Michael Waltrip Racing announced today a new partnership in which NASCAR will become the sole licensing representative for the race team. The agreement includes all driver marks within the Michael Waltrip Racing team, including David Reutimann, Martin Truex Jr., Michael Waltrip, as well as young future stars Trevor Bayne and Ryan Truex.

  • Logano Wins At Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Fifth Annual Lucas Oil Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge presented by Whelen Engineering concluded on Sunday with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Joey Logano a winner.
Logano defeated Melanie Troxel from the NHRA in Sunday’s Race 2 finals, which pitted the fastest NASCAR representative against the fastest from the NHRA. Logano’s run of 49.81 seconds edged the 50.08 of Troxel, who was the champion of Race 1 earlier in the day.
“I'm happy with my time, and it makes it a ton of fun to finally get a win,” Logano said. “This is a blast.”

  • NASCAR Fans Commit More than 10,000 Hours to Help Those in Need
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Dec. 30, 2009) – Thousands of NASCAR fans across the country came out to support The NASCAR Foundation throughout the year, enabling the Foundation to raise and contribute $1.8 million in program services to nonprofit organizations across the country. A majority of the contributions went to affect the lives of children and families in need, especially in the areas of pediatric health, fulfilling “NASCAR Dreams,” education and community service.

  • On NASCAR: Drivers Are Indeed Athletes
I think the first really in-depth piece of NASCAR-related writing I ever did was for inclusion in a USA Today special section during NASCAR Champion's Week six or seven years ago. The story was titled, "Drivers are athletes."
I did my due diligence, researched the topic thoroughly, and put together a convincing argument lauding NASCAR drivers' athletic and competitive skills. Whether it swayed anyone's opinion, I will never know.
