Margaree Butler

— Margaree Ward Butler, 87, of 523 Graham S., Albemarle, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center.
Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Mitch Carlyle will officiate and burial will be in Poplins Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Born June 18, 1920, in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Edmon Martin and Betty Frances Jones Martin and was a retired employee of Wiscasssett Mills Co. after 48 years of service. She was a former Sunday School teacher and had many years of perfect attendance. She was first married to Leo Ward and second to Vester Butler, both of whom preceded her in death. A brother, Arthur L. Martin, and a half sister, Tennessee Merck, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Rebecca Ward of Albemarle; two stepsons, Charles W. Butler and Linwood Butler, both of Albemarle; six stepdaughters, Christine Griffin of Florida, Elizabeth Bellivue of Georgia, Catherine Clark of Raeford, Linda Vanhoy and Lisa Mauldin, both of Albemarle, and Reba Ashley of Mt. Holly.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Stanly Funeral Home where the body will remain until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
