James “Pete” Tyndall, 74, of Stanfield, a U.S. Army Veteran, died Dec. 27, 2013

Thursday, January 2, 2014 — James “Pete” Earl Tyndall 74, of Stanfield, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, December 27, 2013, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, N.C.

Mr. Tyndall was born June 6, 1939, in eastern North Carolina to the late Melvin Tyndall and Lizzie Tyndall. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Kevin Tyndall.

He was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from the U.S. Treasury Department after 34 years of service.

The family received friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, from 12-2 p.m. The funeral service followed in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., officiated by Rev. Charlie Littlejohn. Burial followed at Charlotte Memorial Gardens at 7632 Hood Road, Charlotte, N.C.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Tyndall of Stanfield; son, Curtis Tyndall of Locust; daughter, Debra (Michael) Martin of Stanfield; son, Craig (Neile) Pickering of Albemarle; daughter, Amy (Kip) Clark of Stanfield; brothers, Lester (Betty) Tyndall and Muriel (Susan) Tyndall, both of Deep Run, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
