Betty High, 84, retired from Cherokee Sanford Brick Company

Friday, August 16, 2013 — Betty Steele Wicker High, 84, of Norwood, surrounded by her loving family, passed away Tuesday evening, August 13, 2013, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Cottonville Baptist Church. Rev. Alex Willoughby will officiate and interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, August 16, 2013, at Edwards Funeral Home, Norwood.

Mrs. High was born January 1, 1929, in Lee County to the late David Virgil and Emma Steele Wicker.  

She was a member of Cottonville Baptist Church and was a retired Secretary of Cherokee Sanford Brick Company.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chalmers High; daughter, Barbara Ward; brothers, James W. Wicker, David V. Wicker Jr.; and sister, Mildred W. Thomas.   

She is survived by daughters, Carolyn High of Winston-Salem and Susan Lee and husband Buddy of Norwood; son, Robert High and wife Kathryn of Norwood; four grandchildren, Nichole Johnson, Tony Dennis, Sean Ward and William Arthur High; four great-grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsey Dennis, James Johnson and Audrey Reese.
