Tuesday, November 20, 2012 — Margaret Matthews Floyd, 84, of Norwood, died Saturday afternoon, November 17, 2012, at Spring Arbor.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2012, at Rehobeth Methodist Church. Rev. Ron Dry officiated and interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Edwards Funeral Home in Norwood.
Mrs. Floyd was born April 20, 1928, in Mecklenburg County to the late Arthur James and Carrie Arlena Byrd Matthews.
She retired from Wiscassett Mills and attended Rehobeth Methodist and Green Memorial United Methodist Church. Margaret was a very giving person. She always put others first and continuously helped others.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Tom Reece Floyd Sr. of the home; son, Tom R. “Tommy” Floyd Jr. and wife Regina; daughter, Nancy Floyd Josey and husband Oren, all of Norwood; two brothers, Olin Matthews of Germantown, Ohio and Vann Matthews of Mint Hill, N.C.; and one sister, Leona Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
