Quince Smith, 80, of Mount Pleasant, loved the beach and NASCAR


Tuesday, October 1, 2013 — Quince Floyd Smith, 80, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, surrounded by his loving daughters.

Mr. Smith was born August 4, 1933, to the late Hobart and Martha Smith. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Lovine Burris Smith.

The family received friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Monday, September 30, 2013, from 6-8 p.m.

The funeral service was at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord Chapel on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 4 p.m. Burial followed at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his two loving daughters, Donna Penninger and husband Kenny of Concord and Robin Rutherford and husband Joe of Coppell, Texas; three grandchildren, Matthew Penninger and wife Talia of Charlotte, Nate Penninger of Concord and Ryan Rutherford of Coppell, Texas; a brother, Donnie Smith of Richfield; and a sister, Zula Smith of Albemarle.

Quince loved going to the beach and keeping up with current events on Fox News. He also enjoyed meeting new people. But perhaps his greatest pastime was watching NASCAR races on Saturdays or Sundays!
