Margaret Overcash, 86, of Oakboro, retired school secretary, member of Eastern Star more than 60 years, died June 10, 2014

Wednesday, June 11, 2014 — Margaret Elizabeth Blackwell Overcash, 86, of Oakboro, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in her home.  

Her funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, with Dr. Nalin Mehta officiating and burial will follow in the New London Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Aleece Lehman, Oakboro.

Born August 10, 1927, in Roswell, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Vernon Lamont Blackwell and Ruth Aleece Adams Blackwell and retired as the secretary at New London Elementary School with 31 years of service. She was a member of New London United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star for more than 60 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Allen Overcash, in December 2012. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.  

Survivors include daughter, Aleece Overcash Lehman and husband Randy of Oakboro; sister, Nell King of Charlotte; and two grandchildren, Ashlee McKeon of New York and Margaret Anspach of Oakboro.   

The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, NC 28001 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Dr. #999, Charlotte, NC 28215.
