Mary Huneycutt, 104, of New London, homemaker, bookkeeper, died April 30, 2014

Thursday, May 1, 2014 — Mary Russell Huneycutt, 104, of New London, N.C., passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2014, in her home.

Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Mt. Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Branan Hooven and Elder Joe Helms officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, and also one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born January 27, 1910, in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Ezekiel Russell and the late Sarah Isabell Vanhoy Russell.

She was a graduate of New London High School class of 1928 and Morgan Business School. She was a homemaker and after raising her family she was a bookkeeper. She was a member of Mountain Creek Primitive Baptist Church for approximately 80 years.  

She was married to the late William Franklin Huneycutt who preceded her in death February 27, 1995.  

Survivors include sons, Timothy F. Huneycutt and wife Zoe of New London, N.C., Lynn R. Huneycutt and wife Mavis of Albemarle, N.C. and Terry G. Huneycutt and wife Linda of Red Cross, N.C.; daughter, Carole Poplin of Albemarle; 10 grandchildren, Tim F. Huneycutt Jr., Todd W. Huneycutt, Anthony D. Huneycutt, Garrett P. Poplin, Jill P. Williamson, Sherry L. Huneycutt, Angela H. Clark, Karen H. Goodwin, Stephen Burleson and Shanna Culp;  21 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Stanly Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
