Memorial service for Leroy Lanier Sr., 74, of Albemarle, will be Saturday

Thursday, May 1, 2014 — Leroy Wayne Lanier Sr., 74, of Albemarle, died Saturday, April 26, 2014, at 6:49 p.m. at home.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Charity Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Les Lanier. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the service.

Born April 1, 1940, in Stanly County, he was the son of the late Leslie and Flora Huneycutt Lanier.

He was a graduate of Badin School, a retired truck driver and a member of the Masons.

Mr. Lanier was married to Ethel D. Lanier of the home. Other survivors include sons, David Lanier, Edward Lanier and Wayne Lanier Jr., all of Albemarle and Larry Burris Jr. of Loris, S.C.; daughter, Frances Spivey of Albemarle; brother, Ray Lanier of Albemarle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Jean L. Bushy and Brenda Russell, preceded him in death.
