Ray Little, age 82, of Albemarle, a U.S. Army Veteran, who loved fishing, passed away Dec. 10, 2013


Thursday, December 12, 2013 — Ray Edward Little, age 82, of Albemarle, died at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Charlotte, N.C.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013, at Sweet Home Baptist Church, Albemarle, N.C. Rev. Preston Long and Rev. Charles Bowers will officiate and burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle, N.C., with full military graveside rites conducted by the Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.

The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, N.C., on Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the hour of the service.

Born July 3, 1931, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Edd Little and Sindie Teeter Little.

He was a plumbing contractor and a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

He loved to fish, especially for crappie and flounder. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Little was married to his loving wife, Nellie Morris Little, of the home, for 58 years.

Other survivors include two sons, Tim Little and wife Linda of Gold Hill, N.C. and Greg Little and wife Amy of Albemarle, N.C.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Delmer Little and Bill Little and one sister, Gertrude Wise, preceded him in death.
