Lamer Reynolds, 96, of Concord, passed away June 29, 2014

Monday, June 30, 2014 — Lamer E. Hatley Reynolds, 96 years of age, of Tarrymore Lane, Concord, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at NorthEast Medical Center.

She was born in Stanly County, N.C. on April 30, 1918, the daughter of Gaston Hatley and Sarah Hatley (Hatley).

Mrs. Reynolds graduated from Ridgecrest High School and was a lifelong member of Mission Baptist Church, Locust. During WWII, she worked in a defense plant in Winston-Salem where she installed radios on airplanes. She moved to New York City with her job and then lived for many years in New York City where she worked for Western Union. She then moved back to North Carolina, she lived in Charlotte and worked for and retired from Bell South.

Survivors include daughters, Susan Reynolds of Concord, N.C. and Kathi Rich and husband Al of Mint Hill, N.C.; her sister, Ruth Wentz of Concord, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.  

She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Reynolds; sister, Beatrice Tucker; and brothers, Leroy Hatley and J.D. Hatley.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, July 2, 2014, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mission Baptist Church in Locust with Rev. Jay Weigel officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
