CDR C. Allen Mullinix, 86, of Pittsboro, N.C., retired Navy Veteran, died July 1, 2014

Tuesday, July 8, 2014 — CDR C. Allen Mullinix MSC USN (retired), 86, of Pittsboro, N.C., passed away on July 1, 2014, at his home.  

He was born in Montgomery County, N.C., to Emily Irene and C.B. Mullinix on April 15, 1928.  

He joined the Navy after graduating from high school in 1945. During his 30 year career, he had many interesting and challenging duty assignments, but his two years in American Samoa made the biggest impression on his life.

He will be remembered for his integrity, great sense of humor and lover of family.

He also found great joy in building two houses by himself, doing extensive genealogy research on the Mullinix family, studying and investing in the stock market and walking his three faithful dogs.

CDR Mullinix is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margaret; and his four children from his marriage to the late Nancy Mullinix, Andrea Moore (Stephen) of Tennessee, David Mullinix (Barbara) of S.C., Suzanne Hardy of S.C. and Daniel Mullinix (Geri) of N.C. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Erin Smith (Derek) of Florida, Jonathan Mullinix (Ashley) of S.C., Benjamin Rutledge (Jessica) of N.C., Timothy Mullinix of S.C., Joshua Moore of Montana, Rachel Mullinix of S.C., Jessica Rutledge of S.C., Amanda Ackovitz of N.C.; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be private.
