Dean Chandler

Tuesday, December 28, 2010 — Dean Chandler, 73, of Gastonia, N.C., passed into the presence of his Lord on December 25, 2010.  Son of the late Walter Grady  Chandler and Elizabeth Scarboro Chandler, he was born February 13, 1937 in Albemarle, N.C.

Dean is best known for his love for God, his musical gifts and his gentle spirit.  He was a gifted pianist, trumpeter, vocalist, choir director and worship leader.  He served as Music Minister and Song Evangelist for more than 50 years including a concert ministry with his wife and daughters as The Chandler Family.

Dean is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Delores Hopkins Chandler; daughters, Rhonda Chandler Pangle, Mitzi Chandler, and Deborah Chandler Swanson;  six grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Surviving brothers and sisters are Ray, Edith Rabon, Alton, Alma Smith, and Ellerson.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ragan Wesleyan Church.

Graveside service was at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Simpson Family Cemetery in Porter, N.C.
