Sarah Morgan, 95, of Badin, who enjoyed traveling, bowling, music, reading, died June 24, 2014

Wednesday, June 25, 2014 — Sarah Palmer Meigs Morgan, 95, of Badin, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.

Her funeral service will be at 12 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, in the Stanly Funeral Home Chapel, Albemarle, with the Rev. Rick Clough officiating. Burial will follow in the Palmerville Cemetery, New London. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born July 15, 1918, in Stanly County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Joseph Carl Meigs and Lola Vann Eddins Meigs.

She was a retired registered nurse with Dr. George Eddins practice and a former member of Palmerville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Morgan loved living a great portion of her life at Oak Island, N.C. and was an international traveler. She enjoyed bowling, the violin and piano and was also an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Misenheimer Morgan Jr., on February 19, 2008. Mrs. Morgan was also preceded in death by a daughter, Emily Morgan.   

Mrs. Morgan is survived by a son, Earl “Butch” Morgan III and wife Suzy of Southern Pines, N.C.; four daughters, Debbie Webb of Charlotte, N.C., Sylvia Rushing and husband Lionel of Badin, N.C., Melissa Clark of Norwood, N.C. and Sally Plowman and husband Rick of Albemarle, N.C.; a brother, Carl Meigs Jr. of Connecticut; three sisters, Mary Honeycutt of McLean, Virginia, Gertrude Venters of New London, N.C. and Rachel Joyce of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
