Bob Redwine, 88, of Columbia, S.C., passed away July 1, 2014

Wednesday, July 2, 2014 — Robert James Redwine passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014. He was 88.

Born in Stanly County, N.C., to the late Kate Clark Redwine and Clay Tom Redwine Sr., “Bobby” was educated in the Albemarle City Schools, Pfeiffer College and Wake Forest University.

He served in the amphibious forces of the U.S. Navy during World War II and he retired in Columbia, S.C. after a career with the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company, where he served as Regional Sales Manager.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jones Redwine, and sons, Robert James Redwine Jr. and Neil Coite Redwine as well as sisters, Frances Clark Redwine, Madge R. White and Jane R. Knotts.

He is survived by his brother, Clay Tom Redwine Jr. of Albemarle, N.C. and a son and daughter-in-law, William Thomas Redwine and Sonja Reynolds Redwine of Bentonville, Arkansas.

He was a resident of Columbia, S.C. from July 1961 until his death.

Bob was a deacon in the First Baptist Church of Columbia and active in many church programs.

Graveside services will be on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle. The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, on Monday, July 7, 2014, at 12 p.m. following the service.
