James Poplin, 75, of Albemarle, died Feb. 11, 2014

Thursday, February 13, 2014 — James Franklin Poplin, age 75, of Albemarle, N.C., died at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2014, in his home.

A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at the Green Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery, Norwood, N.C, officiated by The Rev. Joe Smith.

The family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, on Friday, February 14, 2014, from 6-8 p.m.

Born October 24, 1938, in Stanly County, N.C., he was the son of the late Thomas Reece Poplin and Gladys Cooper Poplin.

He was a retired truck driver with Collins & Aikman Corp. and a member of the Baptist faith. He was educated at Aquadale School.

Mr. Poplin was married to Cissie Tucker Poplin of the home; two sons, James Jeffrey Poplin and wife Sherry of Wadesboro, N.C. and Anthony Scott Poplin and wife Carmia of Albemarle, N.C.; one brother, William Lee Poplin of Locust, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Poplin.
